The very best way to learn about vertigo treatment is by consulting an expert. Frequently, the signs of vertigo are disregarded or self treated for far too long and therapy becomes a difficult take. By recognising symptoms a targeted history and vestibular exam can quickly pinpoint the problem.
Healthview is a Graston ProviderWe are pleased to offer Graston Technique at Healthview Therapy Centre. Dr. Robert Muir and Kylynn Hill are both Graston certified practitioners. Graston Technique is a soft tissue mobilization technique utilizing specially designed tools to assist athletes and individuals with their injuries.
When scar tissue is present, or when a practitioners hands can't get deep enough, the Graston tools help to reach the areas that are bothering a patient and help heal the tissues. Using the Graston tools puts the practitioner at an advantage owing to the design of the tools. The tools are able to conform to certain parts of the body better than ones hands alone. The Graston tools also carry a “different” sensation back to the practitioner allowing us to better diagnose and find restrictions (a.k.a. scar tissue) that can lead to dysfunction in muscles, ligaments, tendons and connective tissue. The staff at Healthview are excited to announce the addition of a very specialized piece of exercise/rehab equipment. The Alter G is a game changer in Rehabilition and Fitness. The technology was first developed for NASA that was later re-worked from creating gravity effects to overcoming them. Our interdisciplinary setting is well suited to incorporate the Alter G. In fact, when costs drop we foresee this as a standard component of base equipment rather than a luxury in many centres like ours. We will be using the Alter G for rehabilition and fitness, and work the costs into our therapy sessions. In addition, we will make available packages of sessions for those who are post treatment who want to continue on the AlterG, as well as for those who want to use the machine for general fitness and/or weight loss. The Alter G can be used for so many conditions as well as complement fitness programs. We recomend you visit healthview.ca and/or our altergwpg.ca site for more information.
Active Release Techniques (ART), is a patented, soft-tissue treatment system that treats problems associated with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. This non-invasive hands-on technique can simultaneously locate and break-up scar tissues, vastly improving overuse and strain/sprain injuries. By breaking and releasing restrictive adhesions, ART can restore mobility, increase circulatory functions, and increase neurological function. Dr Robert Muir is ART certified and provides this treatment option to patients as needed. ART treatment is very popular with his patients and can be included in a treatment along with other therapy options, or on it's own as a stand alone treatment. Anyone with any questions about ART can give us a call at 204-885-5864 or send an email here. ART is also partially covered by MPI and WCB.

Several exercises to get you started this spring. Naturally be careful and gradual if you have been sedentary for the last little while. Don't feel you need to follow the program exactly. This is a gradual increase so for most the increase will be manageable. For those who have been active you can add this to your current program. If you have concerns ask one of our professionals for a modified program or join one of our classes. Finally, uncertainty about current health status should be addressed first. Try the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire below and or see a qualified professional. Good Luck and Have Fun !
Acupuncture uses filiform needles that have rounded ends and resemble a thread or filament. These are different from hypodermic needles which are sharper and designed to cut tissue. Acupuncture can be practiced in a traditional manner (Chinese medicine) or is utilized in modern evidence based fashion. In some instances both methods may be employed and the treatment combined with various treatment methods from electrical modalities, soft tissue therapies, and exercise. Patients have varied responses to acupuncture treatments and some good evidence exists demonstrating its effectiveness when acupuncture is used appropriately. Ask your provider if you are a candidate for this treatment method. The practitioners at Healthview use acupuncture as an adjunctive component in a comprehensive treatment plan. Acupuncture treatment at Healthview is generally used within the medical model with a focus on managing pain and promoting the healing of damaged tissue. In addition, electro-acupuncture is often utilized to enhance the effect of the treatment. Your Acupuncture Providers at Healthview
